I cried a river, wait. No, I cried more than a river. Hell, I'm sure I didn't bawl this way even when I was a kid. So there, minus 1 from the rating because of you, Mr Mistry.
A work of genius. The tragic story captures you from beginning to end, and when you think that life which is not supposed to be this hard, gets even worse. I had completely prepared myself for the climax, or atleast I thought I had. Nevertheless, it left me dumbfounded.
Very few novelists can achieve what he did with this book: Making life seem so much larger than the characters. And not to mention one of the few to capture the textures of India very well.
Life is unfair....and you get to see how in this book.Compassion, humor, tragedy blends well in this powerful novel by Mistry.
