Deadline is the first book in a brand new urban fantasy series Blood Trails. Shade Renard has been an apprentice to Mother Hazel for a long time, how long she really did not know as most of her time was spent in betwixt and between where time didn’t truly exist. Shade as a character was a perfect blend of experience and inexperience. She may have been an experienced witch but as a private investigator she really had no idea what she was doing but she went for it anyhow. I liked that she wasn’t “perfect�� in her attempts. There is a lot of growth potential for this character. Overall, Deadline is an urban fantasy that is filled with humor, suspense, and a smidge of maybe, possibly��.romance.
