“When you shatter the chains of this world and forge the next, remember that art is as vital as food to a kingdom. Without it, a kingdom is nothing, and will be forgotten by time. I have amassed enough money in my miserable life to not need any more—so you will understand me clearly when I say that whenever you set your throne, no matter how long it takes, I will come to you, and I will bring music and dancing.

This book is a damn near perfect piece of literature. Debts are paid, friendships are made, relationships are mended, power is brewing, and justice is coming. Nothing about the fourth book in this fantastical series is disappointing🏆🙌🏽

A special thanks to SJM for making this novel so wonderful for car rides. I only burst out loud at the snarky dialogue, teared up and cried at the emotional passages, and felt empowered all day long😌☺️😌

Some highlights from “Queen of Shadows include:
•Aelin growing more into herself again and facing things head on. We all Stan You, Heir of Mala Fire-Bringer✊🏻
•The sexual tension between Rowan and Aelin. One my true OTPs :)
•Lysandra. She adds so much to the group, is a badass, and is proof that enemies can become friends. I love her so much👻🐆
•Bonding over chocolate🍫🙏🏽
•Aedion and Aelin’s reunion
•Chaol and Aelin mending old wounds
•Elide and her unlikely friendship with Manon
•Manon meeting her princeling🤪🧹
•Nesryn (honorable mention but a great new character as well)

An underlying theme is vengeance and how it can eat away at our souls. Yearning to avenge all the wrongs done to her kingdom and herself, Aelin is a great example. Throughout this novel, Aelin and Manon learn to seek out the light within, to continually heal, and to forgive others. Yet there is a time for justice and it does prevail. I’m not conveying this all super well but this book does give a nuanced and beautiful perspective so just read the book. Thanks🖤😁🖤
