Mind Gym: An Athlete's Guide to Inner Excellence

The mind gym gave me a lot of valuable information and was rich with examples of inspiring stories (often where athletes picked themselves up.) This was nice since I’m going through my whole acl surgery/recovery. I will say that it was hard for me to really get into the book just because many of the athletes talked about and references made were to sports I’m not as familiar with. Never the less though, I found a lot of relatable scenarios and I’m defiantly taking away from the book that the mind can have a lot more control of your abilities than even your actually body can.

"So far this book as been pretty confusing but I’ve been able to decode some really cool ideas for example to focus on positives like what you need to do in the game rather than negative like what you are trying to avoid."

"This books has been a little tricky to get into since you have to be very focused and willing to think and criticize yourself. I do want to keep reading it though because first of all I think there are some valuable things I will get out of it and secondly because it was recommended to me to help me through my ACL tear/recovery. I hope it grows on me more!"

"The main thing that has bothered me about this book is that the narrarte is mainly talking about either football or baseball which are two sports I don’t understand very well. Other than that though, I’ve learned a few good points from and and have every been able to totally relate to some of the aspects!"

"I find it really interesting that this book is mainly revolved all around basically just baseball when it’s a book for the audience of a player in any sport. The author has been really good at giving real situations for all the advice they give though which is really helpful"
