I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I didnt want it to end, the characters really got under my skin. It is a brave book for many reasons.
Basically it a fictionalised account of domestic help in Jackson,Mississippi era 1960. It is narrated by 3 main female characters, 2 African American.domestic housemaids, Minnie,Abileen and Miss Skeeter, the white woman, who daresto write about The Help. I was moved by many events throughout the book, it is such an important book. while it is fictional, the author grew up in Jackson, where terrible things occured to these maids,as well as their families. The best message this book can leave you with,is,to think of white and black as the same gift wrapped in different paper paper, we are all have a heart and soul.
Highly recommend this.
