I'm going to give this 2.5.

I think I would have appreciated the book more if I was religious. The main religious message I pulled out of this was "It's good to believe in Jesus/Aslan. He'll always steer you straight."

Out of the seven books, I probably enjoyed the first three the most. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is just classic. I've read it a zillion times and I still think Lucy's first venture into Narnia when she meets the Faun Tumnus is just about one of the most charming interactions in literature ever. I appreciated The Magician's Nephew b/c we got to see how Narnia all started. The Horse and His Boy kept me interested. The others I kind of just sat and read through b/c I had bought the entire series so I might as well. I was disappointed probably the most by Prince Caspian (why did they make a movie out of that one?? I guess b/c Lucy and the gang were all in that one?). It was just kind of dull. Prince Caspian not so interesting in that one, but he was better in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. And Reepicheep kept me entertained. I too wanted to pet Reepicheep or carry him on my shoulder. I actually enjoyed The Last Battle too, where everybody (who deserves it at least) goes to the real Narnia, which is supposed to be the Kingdom of Heaven, yes? I was also intrigued by the Dwarfs, who could not notice the splendor of Aslan all around them b/c "they have chosen cunning instead of belief." They're the ones not saying they don't believe in the good of Aslan, but they're not saying they believe in it either; they're just for themselves so they're kind of in this limbo. Which I think is a lot of people, and is possibly me. Hmm...You've given me something to think about, C.S. Lewis. Perhaps I'll have a pint at the Eagle and Child and have a think about it?
