This is the kind of book that makes you proud of what the Americans did during World War II (though I'm not American and yes, I understand that other countries like Canada had a part as well, but this book is about E Company from the US).
You get to see firsthand what the brave soldiers went through, fighting a war that was in a way, not their own (yes, people say that U.S. was afraid Hitler would take over Europe and then come for North America), but to these soldiers, they were fighting a war that hadn't touched them yet. It shows humanity in its rawest forms.
Understanding the pain these soldiers went through and their bravery was touching.
