The Last Frontier

A terrifying tale of how a small tribe of Cheyenne Indians are trying to make their way home and live as free people there, while what seems to be the entire American nation opposes this desire. I have always loved reading tales for the Native Americans, and every time I am amazed by their justice, simple desires, nobility and honesty. Novels like "Osceola the Seminole", "Winnetou" and "Sons of the Great Bear" have shown me that these people are worth of respect. And this book was no exception. The Cheyenne Indians had a desire so powerful, that it completely obsessed them. They embarked on a long journey, more than 1500 km, with hardly any provisions or clothes, in bad health, and persecuted by countless American soldiers. I was stunned how determined they were, travelling north towards Wyoming and Montana despite the cold, hunger and fatigue, and in the same time were infinitely just and genuine, avoiding killing and stealing along the way. They just wanted to go back home. Which is why it's hard to read their story without thinking and feeling how tortured and humiliated these people were, and in the same time they only wanted freedom.
