Although I was mesmerized by this book and couldn’t put it down, I’d give it a 3.5. Hence the 4 stars.
An absolutely heartbreaking account of the tragedy that played out in The Orphanage system during the 50’s & 60’s in Canada under the Catholic Church via a government program.
The fact that the author had first hand knowledge based on her own mother’s story made this more powerful.
I’m always amazed at the resiliency of the human spirit and the courage it takes to share our most vulnerable self to others.
This is a definite Kleenex read.
