Well, I liked this second book way more than the first one.
I liked the way Juliette slowly discovers herself, her abilities.
At times, she frustrated me a little. But the thing is, I understand her worries, her doubts. I thought she was a little bit annoying, especially in the first third of the book. Then, she got over herself and that was great.
Adam is still « meh » for me. Just like with the first book, he leaves me indifferent. He’s a fine young man for sure, devoted and hopelessly in love with Juliette. But there’s something I can’t quite point at that doesn't make me love him.
The one that has been a revelation for me was Kenji, who quickly became my favorite character. Behind the laughs, jokes and his kinda cocky comments, he’s incredible. I just love him: the way he talks, sees the world, everything.
Anderson was a surprise too. He's cruel, and he doesn't try to hide it or minimize it. He's an interesting character and I'm looking forward to seeing more of him.
I also loved every time Warner was in scenes. Warner is a really dark, charismatic character, but it's like he has this tiny crack in this tough shell that only Juliette will ever be able to see, despite everything he did. He's incredibly interesting. That man captured my heart. Oops, sorry.
This book got me speechless multiple times: that big plot twist (kinda saw this one coming but it sounded more like a crazy theory than actually the truth), and THE END ! WHAT IS HAPPENING !?
Overall, I really liked it. I liked the development of the characters, the way the story was constructed and build up. The end left me with so many questions and I cannot wait to read Ignite Me.
