really liked it

This was the first YA contemporary that has really pulled me into the story in a long, long time.

Willowdean "Dumplin'" was such a realistic character and I related to her a lot as someone who was the fat kid when I was her age (honestly, still the fat kid, but that's not the point). I could have done with more of a focus of the pageant, but the events played out rather naturally for high school sophomores. She was aware of all the wrong doings she was doing, and though it didn't stop her from doing them, I don't think it makes this story as hypocritical as some of the reviews I've seen. I remember doing similar things when I was Will's age. I most definitely remember a huge temporary falling out with my best friend for saying stupid things out of jealousy. And I certainly remember having those moments of hating my body and cringing away from a touch because of how I looked. All these characters are so realistic and I fell in love with all of them.

All in all, I really loved this story and got very invested in the characters. Opening up Puddin' as soon as I'm finished writing this review.
