really liked it

Tough to review this without comparing it to Beartown which was a perfect 5 star book for me. I feel bad saying it did not live up to the first book - because maybe some of that is just that the style is too familiar, and the situations seemed repetitive. The first third of the book really just recaps the previous novel. The some really bad things happen to people I already cared for. I assume the culture in these small remote Swedish towns is more accepting of violence but I got tired of the fighting. Then the ending seemed dragged out because we have to learn about what happens to each of the 20 or so characters. Now despite my criticisms, I adore his writing and teared up while listening to it over and over.
