An interesting conceit which didn't translate into a compelling book. The plot is meandering and none of the characters are particularly engaging. It wasn't that I was confused but rather that I wondering why I should care. Most of the gods pose a lot and have superpowers which could be found in any superhero book. The concept of them being gods and why that matters isn't really explained here; perhaps it comes later but the promise of better writing is not enough to continue a series.
The artwork is nice and the real reason behind the star rating. It was not particularly atmospheric but that could have been the plot. Nonetheless, there were some definite 'cool' moments. I liked Lucifer's character design - very David Bowie. Some of the other references to pop stars were also nice even if they didn't add to a lot. I have the next volume already so will be continuing but this can be passed by for other comics.
