Read 2 times. Last read January 9, 2019.
Reread January 2019.
Waiting for my copy of The Wicked King to come in and I just reread The Cruel Prince and wow, this was MUCH better reading it right after instead of months later when I'd forgotten entire characters. If you haven't read This and like the series, I highly recommend you do.
Also I somehow reread this exactly two months after my first read and that makes me happy
First read November 2018.
This is how you write a series novella, not mindless filler or fan wish fulfilment, this, with information that actually enhances the series.
It's so weird. Before this I didn't hate Taryn as much as everyone else. She seemed to just be a . . . lost sister (ba dum tuss). But after this, I simultaneously hate her AND empathize with her
I usually hate whiny and selfish characters yet somehow this ebook was better BECAUSE it had a whiny selfish main character. I can't quite put my finger on it but there's just something so fascinating about seeing Taryn's side of the story.
And somehow, I'm even more excited for The Wicked King and it was already in my top three releases of 2019 (the other two being King of Scars and Kingdom of Back)
Prereview July 2018.
Love that cover 😍

I feel like I'm the only person in the fandom who doesn't hate Taryn
