The first Murakami book I read was 1Q84. I was hooked. So why I didn't go on to some of his other books, I don't know. I also don't ordinarily read coming of age books, but I picked this up in B&N because it looked to be a quick read. I began it and dang! I didn't want to finish because his writing is so gorgeous. I dragged it out as long as I possibly could. Finally, last night I had a few pages left and finished. Yes, I can see why this little book shot him to super stardom. The characters are appealing. The plot of lost love is brilliantly done.
