it was amazing
bookshelves: young-adult, recommended

This, in my opinion, is the best written YA book I've ever read. The characterization is brilliant and unflinching, the details of the world absolutely spot-on, and the YA coming-of-age plot seamlessly worked into a brutal sci-fi story.

When I grow up, I want to be M. T. Anderson.

***wondering why all my reviews are five stars? Because I'm only reviewing my favorite books -- not every book I read. Consider a novel's presence on my Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ bookshelf as a hearty endorsement. I can't believe I just said "hearty." It sounds like a stew.****

Brianna I love this brief review. I especially appreciate the use of "brutal" because I read this book four years ago and I still think about that world and the ramifications of resisting the ever-evolving technology and societal norms in this world (and the choices parents make for their children).

I did not enjoy this novel. But I frequently recommend it.
So, so well done.

I'm reading the review in 2015 because I just found your list and I have read and loved a dozen or so of the novels on the list, so I'm trying to figure which others to read. (On the loved books: I have tried reading Code Name Verity to my mother, so someone else can be astounded with me, but it does not work too well as a read-aloud novel. At least not with small amounts of time).
Also, your books have been wonderful. Thanks for that.
