I chose this book from the library shelf because it states on the front cover " author of GIRL WITH A PEARL EARRING." And since I enjoyed "Girl with a Pearl Earring" I thought why not. I was not disappointed and, to my delight, discovered that Tracy Chevelier has written many other novels.

What I like about Chevalier's books is that she takes a historical figure and creates a story around that person. Her characters and story line keep me interested and turning pages. Chevalier creates characters that you miss when you have finished the book.
