I loved Beartown and was captivated by Us Against You as well. It takes place after the big scandal in the first book. It could be read as a stand-alone, but the first book gives the second even more depth. I find that I like to read Fredrik Backman's books in print as well as listen to them. Once through is not enough and I need to SLOW DOWN and savor the feelings, emotions, and observational nuggets. There are all sorts of love. Backman's profound love of his own children and the part they play in his life comes out so strongly in this book. Backman starts out by telling the reader something that will/has happened, and then you keep reading to find out who/what/when. He does this repeatedly in this story, especially compelling was that Vidar and Anna would not go on to marry and have a happy life, and that people would die. Overall a touching and satisfying read.
