Overall: Wow!! I could not put this book down and could not stop thinking about it. There perfect curl up by a fire with a glass of wine or tea book and get completely lost in. One of the best books I have ever read and can't believe I have not read it sooner. I recommend to all.

The good: the writing in this is exquisite. The reader is immediately transported back in time and it is easy to get quickly lost in this novel. Though I did not particularly care for the heroine, she is relatable, and this helps to feel like you are a part of the plot. All the characters in this novel are multi-layered, unique, and complex. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and the whole tone is suspenseful. I do not want to give anything away but this is a gem of a novel and I highly recommend it to all.

The bad: you will have no life from start to finish of this book because it is that consuming! The only real critique I have was that I never particular liked the narrator. There are characters I strongly disliked (Mrs. Danvers among others), but there were none that I particularly loved (other than Jasper, the dog!).
