Beautiful prose from an obviously talented writer. I have not read Song of Achilles before reading this book so I don't know if that influences my major critique of this book but throughout the book, although especially at the beginning, it felt like the reader is just forced to 'play along' with the way the story develops.
Ultimately I'd give it 3.7 stars, because even though the story was unique, it wasn't always very entertaining.
The beautiful prose was consistent throughout the book, and I enjoyed that greatly.

I might be interested in picking up Song of Achilles sometime in the future.
