Children of Blood and Bone (Legacy of Orïsha, #1)

This is definitely an excellent debut book, although at times it felt slow. The story to me could have definitely been less than 500 pages. There are a lot of parts that could have either been cut shorter or just left out all together. I enjoyed the dynamic between the characters, and I appreciated how the king was given a good reason for his prejudices, but not to the extent that he was too humanized. The ending really got to me. I FELT it. Overall I think this is worth checking out if interested in fantasy and revolution.
