This quote shows how Kiera Cass uses simile to explain that Aspen has done a lot of things for America. She knows that he would do anything for people he cares about but he can't do a lot to impact her life. Another example of a metaphor Cass uses is:

“Marlee was crying a little but not so much that she looked like a wreck��.

The author uses a wreck to compare the way she was crying to show that although she is a very emotional girl, she was not crying so much. Cass uses a lot of metaphors and similes to keep the reader at the edge of their seat and make the story interesting.(view spoiler)[ This book mainly talks about accepting change. America learns that although change can be alarming and change your life, it can definitely be for the better.

The reason why I decided to choose this book was since a lot of people had recommended it. I was already planning on reading the first book of The Selection this year so I went ahead and read the complete series. Going into the book, I was thinking that it was going to be an endearing love story that I would really enjoy. I was fascinated by the series itself and honestly had high expectations after reading the first two books. The One was nowhere near The Selection or The Elite. Although this was a very entertaining book that I would certainly read again, it had a predictable ending which left me rather disappointed. I hoped that it would have taken a twist on the overdone, clichéd ending where the prince and princess get married and live happily ever after. I felt like there was always so much going on that sometimes the story fell off on the main idea.
