The story of Maggie, the wolf shifter with no memory, and Terrent, the leader of the Bane Council, the shifter police.

Maggie is tasked by the king to find out who had been sabotaging the vaccines for virus 27 for the shifters, and finally agrees to Terrent's request for her to rejoin the shifters.

The two of them have history, most of which Maggie doesn't remember, and Terrent is finally ready to reveal to her. (view spoiler)[Turns out they had agreed to mate before she was taken, and he was waiting for her to remember him while dealing with the multitude of problems his position left him responsible of.

The shifter pack she left years ago is after her and so are the demons, who believe that she has abilities after being infected by the virus, and Terrent is determined to keep her safe and finally fulfill their agreement to mate.

They eventually manage to keep her out of her old pack's hands by mating and convince the demons that she has no abilities, taking her out of their cross-hairs. They also discover who had been messing with the vaccines - a group of teenagers who wanted Terrent for their alpha, since their old alpha was retiring and the new one was an asshole. In the end they find their happily ever after together, (view spoiler)[with Terrent as the alpha and both of them finally finding home in their new pack. (hide spoiler)].

Engaging enough but I had higher hopes for this one.

The series continues with Shadowed and Jase's story.
