** spoiler alert **
In The Mysterious Island a group of men escape imprisonment during the American Civil War by stealing a balloon. Blown across the world they are air wrecked on a remote island. In a manner reminiscent of Robinson Crusoe, the men apply their scientific knowledge and technical skill to exploit the island's bountiful resources, eventually constructing a sophisticated society in miniature.
I am at a loss with this book i hate it i have spent the last 2 and a quarter years reading this book and it's killed me. This book is full of technical language which is good the first 2 times then by the 5th time onwards you want to die this book was worte i feel just so jules Verne had a reason to show off 1 how smart he was and 2 to end the life of captain nemo one of the most favourite characters in literature but apart from that last reason the rest of the book is for nothing because as soon as nemo dies 17 pages later the islands volcano explodes and sinks into the sea. All the work they did over 3 years and all the bull technical language i had to sit through hoping the story would get better and it never did till i met nemo again and i got a glimmer of hope then 2 pages later he dies and the storys done. The men on the island are a bunch of yes men no matter what they where always so positive and happy now i don't care who you are you can be the most happiest man/woman in the world but there's no way you would agree with everyone on everything without not once saying no that alone took me about to believe this could really happen as well as the ironic abundance of materials and animals on the island that they could live make clay, glass, metal, gun powerder, telegraph cables what are the odds hay. Look I don't want to spend much time on this review as the book has already took so much from me already so unlike this story I'll get to the point and say save yourself from this pain and don't read it at all i did and it was a waste of my time now Jules Verne is still a fantastic writer and i still reccomed you go out and read journey to the centre of the earth or 20 thousands Leagues Under the Sea all worth the read but stay away from this book it's not worth it and now i can finally move on to something better than this bag of doggy doo do.
