Thirteen (Eddie Flynn, #4)

I have somewhat mixed feelings about Thirteen. On a positive note, it is a fast-paced, page-turner with an interesting and original concept. The main protagonist, Eddie Flynn, is a likeable character whose need to do the right thing, even at the expense of personal relationships, contrasts nicely with the un-redeeming features of Joshua Kane.
However, as the story progresses it becomes increasingly implausible to the point of being absurd. Writers often seek readers to suspend their disbelief but Thirteen takes it to another level! In addition, I found some of the big revelatory moments to be a little too convenient. Eddie Flynn has numerous ‘light bulb moments where everything just suddenly falls into place…I found myself doing a fair amount of eye rolling at these points!
Nevertheless, Thirteen is generally a fun read. If you are looking an easy holiday read where you don’t have to invest too much, then this is the book for you!
