Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1)

You know when peoÂple keep talkÂing about a book. Lah, this is fanÂtasÂtic! OMG, you have to read this! If you don’t read this I’ll shank you and play hackÂeyÂsack with your kidneys!
The usual
This is one of those books. I was cruÂelly declined on netÂgalÂley so had mostly buried it in my TBR pile and forÂgotÂten about it until peoÂple started terÂrorÂizÂing me with demands to read it.
Oh am I so bloody happy I did! I loved this book! I stayed up most of the night to read it! It wasn’t perÂfect, of course. There are sevÂeral things I might have liked to be changed about it but I feel the charÂacÂterÂiÂzaÂtion of the two main proÂtagÂoÂnists was fanÂtasÂtic. I thorÂoughly enjoyed the writÂing style and the story.
There’s really not much for me to do here. I mostly just want to find everyÂone else who read this book and give them the highÂest of fives.

I meanâ€ yeah, if you want to get techÂniÂcal, it annoyed me that all the antagÂoÂnists were women (and that there were only two posÂiÂtive female charÂacÂters outÂside of the main proÂtagÂoÂnist) and they were all horÂriÂble peoÂple. That breedÂing of disÂtrust for the sisÂterÂhood always raises my hackÂles and most peoÂple won’t be bothÂered by that. I would have liked the atmosÂphere of New BeiÂjing to feel moreâ€ atmosÂpherey, ya know? The actual locaÂtion felt a litÂtle under develÂoped in that regards. Sure I don’t expect every senÂtence would be filled with reminders to the locaÂtion but I wanted to feel the city and the peoÂple and the world â€ which I often didn’t.
I hope there’s more cyberÂpunk in the next one. HovÂerÂcars, screens, id bracelets, androids and cyborgs is cool but let’s amp up the imagÂiÂnaÂtion! Let’s build that world and make it even more fantasmagorical!
But mostly, Meyer is seriÂously on my shitlist for that endÂing! I can’t believe I have to wait until ScarÂlet! SO UNFAIR!

How could you?! Do you hate us? Are you tryÂing to punÂish us? What, oh WHAT did we ever do to deserve the agony of havÂing to wait for Scarlet?
I may never forÂgive. Unless, ya know, ScarÂlet is REALLY awesome.
I will await my senÂtencÂing until then!

Brandi, I recommend sticking it out. Cinder is one of those books which starts off incredibly slow, and sucks you in by about... halfway through the second act. So I'd recommend returning to it some day!
