really liked it

Intial thoughts on the first couple chapters or so: this book has too much sex in it and I wish the author used quotation marks to show dialogue between characters. Is this going to be a teenage drama?

Few more chapters in: okay this is actually really good! And the writing style is rubbing off on me.

Finished: really great piece of writing that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Not so much because I loved the story or how it played out, but because I felt so connected to both characters and ended up caring for both of them. The writing was really good and there were so many layers and elements to the book- something you could sit and talk to someone about for hours. Many things explored- social class, status, communication, abuse, power, love, relationships, coming of age, authenticity, etc.

Definitely for mature audiences.
Does contain a lot of heavy content, including sex, abuse, suicidal ideations, etc
