Lola and the Boy Next Door (Anna and the French Kiss, #2)

I liked this book. I like Lola, I like Cricket, and I like Max.
However, for some reason, this book left some kind of a bad taste in my mouth after I finished it. Or even while I was reading it. There were just some things I couldn't accept about it.
I guess the thing that bothered me the most in this book was the portrayal of Max. I think this excerpt from a Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ review expresses exactly how I feel:
"The most striking example of this "forcedness" is Max.
I didn't like how he first gets presented as an awesome boyfriend and then, quite conveniently, ends up being the asshole in a total unreasonable way. It was done unreasonably and felt so contrived, that when he does become an asshole and I was supposed to despise him I just couldn't bring myself to and I still liked him from before!" (Read the whole review here)
As I've mentioned, I like Lola, Cricket, and Max, and even if Lola and Cricket are the ones supposed to end up together, I wish it could have been done in a better way. I think that things were sort of unfair to Max. I mean, Etienne also had a girlfriend in Anna and the French Kiss, but it was handled nicely.
But it is a nice, light read, and I was so glad to have seen Etienne and Anna (from Anna and the French Kiss) once again! And I'm surprised at how mature they are now. I realized how much I love the two of them when I saw them again in this book. That was a really nice touch.
