I finally joined the legions who have read this book and... it was fine.

If you don't already know, this book is about a little girl who is abandoned, over a short amount of time, by first her mother, then all of her older siblings, and finally, by her father. From the age of around 6, Kya raises herself in the marshes of North Carolina. The townspeople call her, the Marsh Girl, and leave her to her own devices for the most part.

This is Kya's story of growing up alone; there's some romance, lots of heartbreak, and a crime to solve. And, I honestly spent a lot of time upset about the fact that her family and most of an entire town could abandon a little girl so completely. I imagine you will too.

I know people really love Delia Owens' descriptions of the natural landscapes that are the setting of the book. And I totally get that. However, I am not one who loves a ton of descriptive prose in my books. So, for me, this book was okay. Glad I read it to see what the fuss was about, but not my absolute favorite. I'm sure most of you will disagree, lol.
