Well, I was duped again. Tried this book because of all the great reviews. I should have noticed it was overhyped.

I don't get it: "great story." Where? "Lyrical, beautiful prose?" Just ordinary writing, if that. "Can't believe how beautiful"--seriously?
I must re-commit myself to Rule #1 (my rule): if there is too much hype, run like hell. If someone had just told me that they loved it because they also loved Kristin Hannah, or authors of "that type" I would have known better.
I'm certain it really got a boost from Reese Witherspoon's promotion, and it probably ended up on "Today" as a pick. More warning signs.
And now, really looking at the cover, yes, it has that Kristin Hannah/Elin Hildebrand hue (book covers and their colors tell you a lot), and I just should have known.
And I gave it time but at 50% read, I didn't care if there was a surprise ending (was there?) and I was put off by the "chick-lit" story.
I'm delighted that people love it and they'll read, but really, it is not worth the time.
Well, I'm glad I only spent 4 days on it, and on to some other worthy reads.
