Read 3 times. Last read January 1, 2010.
** spoiler alert **
This book I have read 3 different times because of the interesting thought process that goes with a book like this. The thought of a regulated government where kids are killed off for being twins or for being a special needs kid. The fact that the elderly are all killed at a certain age in a celebration. The idea that a child's childhood ends at the age of 12 is so amazingly mind blowing. I feel you need to read this book more than once to understand it. There is so many subtle hints that, that is truly the only way to figure it out.
A very unique part of the book is the ending. In my option I am 51% sure that he dies and does not make it to the city but I really can't be fully sure. However that is one of the many mysteries of this book.
