Whew! My gosh! Karin Slaughter is a master, no doubt about it!
An elderly couple is driving home taking the back roads in Georgia, when out of no where a naked woman runs into the road and is struck erroneously by their automobile. The police and paramedics arrive and find that aside from being struck by the car, she has been brutally tortured... And so begins another Will Trent mystery. Agent Will Trent and his partner, Faith, step in to work the case and figure out just what has happened to this poor woman. As the story unfolds there are twists and turns, it's a wild ride.
The compassion Slaughter shows for her protagonists, and the pure evil she is able to convey about her antagonists is a rare gift. In this story, even the surroundings themselves become indispensable. Well done! Magnificent writing.
