4.5 * rounded up to 5. Every emotion possible happened with this book. It even had me yelling at the characters! There were parts that were very hard to listen to and other parts that brought tears of joy.
What a story! I never knew anything about this until I started reading the book.
Story told from both the mother's and orphaned daughter's view was well done.
The narration was wonderfully done. Saskia Maarleveld is one of my favorite narrators. I will listen to just about any book voiced by her.
I did not give it 5* as I feel it was all too quickly and neatly wrapped up in the end. And also that it ended a bit too early. I wish there had been an epilogue of about a year later in the life of the characters.
