really liked it

Very cool book. There’s a lot here either I did not know or never gave any thought to. I felt like I was back in Music Theory class in high school - although I did not have a former sound engineer from Steely Dan teaching me, so this was infinitely more interesting. No offense, Sister Dolorosa. Listened to this one, so i HAD to stop tape and listen to the songs that Levitin was talking about. The audio book doesn’t sample everything he references, but it does frequently demo passages on a sax or keyboard, so audiobook may be the obvious choice for this one. The Joni Mitchell chapter is a must-read. And Levitin is a great sociologist as well as musician. He just released a book on “successful aging that I’m definitely going to pick up.
