Claire Lombardo has done a masterful job with this book read-her first! I love a good debut novel-so much heart goes into every line on every page. And Lombardo has a ton of heart, here!!
Loved this family and the characters, each with a wonderful voice.
I felt like I knew these people thru the decades, understood their "secrets," and made connections as lives unfolded. I came to embrace each one, and had this "knowing-ness" inspired by Lombardo!
Special lines (w/o giving anything away...):
"It's in my dad contract" (p 110).
"...the cruelest trick the universe plays...."(p 117).
"I think we're entitled to feel angry when we're deprived of things that other people take for granted" (p 261).
