Reading Tracy is like walking through a field of flowers, and every now and then ducking that glorious, exhilarating butterfly. After enough of his books, even the prettiest of flowers might cease to impress, but those butterflies! I've included both:

Notes :
-------

"When you are absolutely clear about your goal, you do not even have to know where it is or how to achieve it. By simply deciding exactly what you want, you will begin to move unerringly toward your goal and your goal will start to move unerringly toward you. At exactly the right time and in exactly the right place, you and your goal will meet."

"... You must determine the price that you will have to pay to achieve it and then get busy paying that price."

"... Choose your boss with care."

"... There is a direct relationship between the amount of responsibility you take and the amount of control that you feel... The more responsibility you accept, the happier you become."

"See yourself as the president of your own company. How would you act differently if you owned 100% of the shares?"

"You will become as small as your controlling desire, as great as your dominant aspiration." - James Allen

"The further you think into the future, the better decisions you will make in the present to assure that the future becomes a reality."

“ You dream big dreams, and project forward mentally as though you are one of the most powerful people in the universe. You create your perfect future.

“Unsuccessful people always wonder whether or not a particular goal is possible. High achievers, on the other hand, ask only the question ‘How? "

“Remember, the very best days of your life lay ahead.

“If you expect good things to happen to you, you will be positive, cheerful and future-oriented.

“Men and women begin to become great when they begin to listen to their inner voices and absolutely trust that they are being guided by a higher power each step of the way.

“What would you have to begin doing today in order to create the kind of reputation that you desire?

“Here is what psychologists have discovered : the more your behavior in the moment is consistent with what you feel your ideal behavior should be, the more you like and respect yourself and the happier you are.

“Once you have decided that you are going to live consistent with a value, your level of integrity determines whether or not you follow through on your commitment. And the higher your level of integrity, the happier and more powerful you all feel in everything you do.

“Decide today to be a man or woman of honor.

“ Simplify the solution and go directly to the goal as quickly as possible.

“The highest paid salespeople organize their days efficiently to assure that they spend more minutes in the presence of people who can and will buy their products and services.

“ We teach our clients to identify those 20% of activities that contribute the most value and then do twice as many of them.

“The amazing discovery you will make is that within 30 days after writing out this list of 100 dreams, remarkable events will begin to happen in your life and your goals will start to be achieved at a rate that you cannot even imagine today.

“ If you could do just one thing all day long in your work, what would it be?

“Thomas Edison was expelled from school in the 6th grade.

“Imagine that there was a ‘Belief Store, very much like a computer software store, where you could purchase a belief to program into your subconscious mind. If you could choose any set of beliefs at all, which beliefs would be most helpful to you?

“Successful people look for the good in every situation. They know that it is always there They expect to get something good out of everything that happens to them.

“You act as if you have a secret guarantee of success and only you know about it.

“If you were one of the most competent and highly respected people in your field, how would you think, act, and feel ?

“Select a belief you that you would most like to have about yourself at a deep inner level. Pretend as if you already believe this to be true about yourself.

“Imagine you were going to take a long trip across the country Each day before you started out, you would locate yourself on a map relative to where you were and where you planned to go in the hours ahead. Life is very much the same.

“The high performer thinks in terms of an hourly rate…

“Your weakest key skill sets the height at which you can use all your other skills and determines your income…

“Never allow yourself to feel locked in or trapped by a particular decision from the past. Keep focused on the future.

“The more clear and specific the measures you set, the more accurate you will be in hitting your targets on schedule. Your subconscious mind requires a ‘forcing system composed of deadlines that you have imposed on yourself for task accomplishment There is an enormous difference between doing 95% of a task and doing 100%…

“Every time you complete a task of any kind, your brain releases a small quantity of endorphins. This natural morphine gives you a sense of well-being and elation The more important the task you complete is, the greater is the quantity of endorphins very much like a reward for success and achievement. It is almost as if nature rewards you for everything that you do that is positive and life-enhancing.

“A goal or a decision without a deadline is merely a discussion. It has no energy behind it.

“Make it a game with yourself to set benchmarks, measures, scorecards, targets, and deadlines for every goal, and then focus on those numbers and dates. The goals will take care of themselves.

“The fact is that successful people fail far more often than unsuccessful people.

“As you get better and faster at solving problems, you will attract even bigger and more expensive problems to solve. Eventually you will be solving problems that can have significant financial consequences for you and others. This is the way the world works.

“The two major obstacles to success and achievement are fear and doubt Fortunately, if there is anything good about doubt and fear, it is that they are both learned emotions. Have you ever seen a negative baby?

“ By setting small goals, making plans, and working on them each day your courage and confidence will grow and become the dominant force in your thinking. Eventually, with a record of successes behind you, it won’t be long before you become unstoppable.

“Whatever the problem, define it several ways before you attempt to solve it. Beware of any problem for which there is only one definition, or only one solution You could do this by asking, ‘What else could be the problem?’ Whichever of these obstacles turns out to be the correct problem will require a completely different course of action to solve it.

“Keep drilling deeper.

“Discipline yourself to work on your boss’s top task all day long. Make sure that whenever your boss sees you or talks to you, you are working on what he or she has told you is his or her top priority for you.

“As conditions settle, keep the lines of communication open with your boss Then make a game of doing it fast. Nothing makes a boss happier than to have someone who gets the job done quickly. Be sure that you are that person.

“Sometimes, I will make a phone call or write a letter to an executive who has just done something noteworthy that was reported in the business press. Often, I don’t get through or make direct contact. But I continue to sow seeds Eventually, I will meet key people socially or in business and they will remember that I dropped them a letter a week, a month, or even a year ago.

“ The simplest strategy is to treat everyone you meet, at home or at work, like a million dollar customer.

“The plans were useless, but the planning was indispensable. - Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, after the invasion of Normandy in World War II

“You need to be absolutely clear, at any given moment, exactly what is most important to you at that time.

“The fact is that you can’t manage time, you can only manage yourself. That is why time management requires self-discipline, self-control, and self-mastery.

“Get started, get going, and work fast.

“You must absolutely know and believe in the depths of your being that you are going to be successful at achieving a particular goal.

“When your subconscious mind receives a command that begins with the word ‘I, it is as though the factory floor receives a production order from the head office. It gets to work immediately to bring that goal into your reality.

“You may have the idea in your conscious mind, but you will not have yet developed the total belief and conviction that it is possible for you. This is normal and natural. Don’t let it stop you…

“When you rewrite and review your goals in the evening your subconscious mind then has an opportunity to work on your goals all night long while you are sleeping.

“…Worry is a form of negative goal-setting.

“Your superconscious mind operates best when you are in a mental state of calm, confident, relaxed expectation.

“…The harder that you don’t try, the faster your superconscious mind will work for you.

“The only real question you should be asking about what you are doing is ‘Does it work? Is it achieving the end results desired?

“The rule is ‘Whatever works is already obsolete.

“Success in any area can quickly breed complacency and a reluctance to change in response to the new realities of the marketplace. Don’t let this happen to you.

“In studying warfares and battles the numerically smaller force was far better organized, more methodical, and more orderly in its plan of attack and execution than the larger, more disorganized force.

“Practice makes permanent.

Corridor principle : “As these individuals moved forward toward their goals, as though proceeding down a corridor, doors opened to them that they would not have seen if they had not been in forward motion.

“The future belongs to the risk-takers, not the security seekers. Life is perverse in the sense that the more you seek security, the less of it you have. But the more you seek opportunity, the more likely it is that you will achieve the security that you desire.

“Whatever you dwell upon grows - so be careful.

“With a commitment to acquire the habit of courage, you will eventually reach the point where your fears no longer play a major role in your decision-making.

“There are two essential requirements for success. The first is ‘get-to-it-iveness and the second is ‘stick-to-it-iveness. " - Orison Swett Marden
