it was ok

** spoiler alert ** Half way through this book, I wanted to fight anyone who liked it. By the end, it does tie itself together. It's just not my thing, the whole mystical realism. The story is pretty mundane, the characters aren't necessarily interesting, and the weird stuff that Murikami throws into the story, such as fish falling from the sky, overly descriptive sexual encounters, and even the whole Oedipus idea, feel random and out of place instead of being crucial to the story. Just not my thing. I certainly won't read any more Murakami.

Vanessa Walter - thanks for your comment on my review. I look forward to reading your review of this piece of poo-poo if you post one.

Majesty I do understand your frustration with the story, there were sometimes when I felt like giving up (like the second time Miss Saeki and Kafka had sex and the whole semen drinking thing). Murakami could've found another way to write this story, all the sex wasn't needed. I don't think I'll give up on Murakami totally though, I think I'll try Norwegian Wood next (it's said to be his best).
