it was amazing
bookshelves: extraordinary-books

An extraordinary book which I read in one sitting. It has stayed with me ever since. I was in awe of Coetzee's mastery and the fact that he was using the same words that ever English speaker uses but in a way that seemed beyond the reach of most mere mortals. The book took me by the throat and wouldn't let go; it was raw and tough and devastating and I've never read a book like it. It's not an uplifting story but it is an important story and it opened my eyes to some of the harsh realities of this world in a way that I can't even explain. This was a truly visceral experience. Highly recommended.
