It will be a while before I forgive Philip Pullman for the way he ended this book. I can't remember ever encountering a cliff-hanger so cruel and hopeless and bittersweet.
But if anyone ever had the ability to make me yell at a book in frustration, it's Philip Pullman. And I mean that in the very best way imaginable.
