** spoiler alert ** I would like to preface this review by saying that I adored American Royals. I loved the intertwining myriad of characters and stories; I loved the royalty aspect (even though I am not American and have no interest in the royal family); I loved the relationships. I’ve have read the book probably three times.

When I saw that Majesty was in the bookstore, I was so excited. I freaked out and quite literally lunged for it. I read Majesty in a single sitting. That is why it gives me no pleasure in giving it two stars.

Just a warning, this review will have an innumerable number of spoilers. Watch out!!

Sam: 9/10
I gained a newfound appreciation for Samantha (let’s call her Sam for the purpose of efficiency)! She was awesome in this book! I found her tiring and whiny in American Royals, and I was pleasantly surprised at her growth in Majesty. Her and Marshall quickly became my favourite characters. I think her revelation about Teddy (not true love) made her into a stronger character. I also loved Marshall. He was really cool and I enjoyed reading about the cat-and-mouse game they played with each other. I thought they both got to shine in this relationship in a way that wasn’t present with Sam and Teddy.

Nina: 5/10
Nina was done dirty!!! She was unequivocally my favourite character in American Royals, but she felt shallow and underdeveloped in Majesty. I wish more attention had been paid to her because she has so much potential as a character. I wanted to see spunk and inset was she was very static and unengaging. Contrary to popular opinion, I enjoyed the relationship between her and Ethan. Jefferson and Nina were BORING together. But again, it needed more development!

Beatrice: -8/10 (don’t get it,
confused that is a negative 8)
Gosh, I am mad!!!! She yearned after Connor for the entirety of American Royals. Katharine McGee made me invested in their relationship. Beatrice told Connor that she didn’t love Teddy at all. WHY ON EARTH DID SHE FALL IN LOVE WITH TEDDY?!?! He has the personality of WHITE BREAD!!!! She completely screwed Connor and Sam over. I was actively rooting against Beatrice and Teddy’s relationship. in case it’s not clear, I HATE THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH A BURNING PASSION. Why would she do that to Sam???? Even though she is with Marshall (whom I love), that is still an awful thing for a sister to do. Beatrice went from poised in the first book to a love struck, boring teenager in the second. Also, we see no development in their relationship. It goes for 0-100 real quick. Teddy is getting mad at Beatrice for being in love with another guy and suddenly they are totally in love??? Also, the whole ‘I’m queen, therefore I can’t do anything I want rationale is getting old. Beatrice has no sound or backbone and it’s disappointing.

Daphne: 0/10:
I won’t waste words: I don’t like her. Himari should enact revenge.

Okay, the end. Bye!
