I guess I'm a little tough on this one, giving it ***. I am a sucker for a story about a dog, but, I am not so fond of the story being told by the dog, as if it's a human in a dog body. That said, this is a very moving story of a homeless man and his dog. When the man realizes he is dying--and the dog realizes that as well-- he tries to find someone to take his dog. It's always a desperate time for a dog when he/she loses his "master." That comes across strongly in this story, especially as the dog is on his own looking for someone to take care of him. Sad? Yes, but he did have that wonderful relationship with the man....for a time....
