I decided to take a trip down memory lane and reread Carrie. King at his best with a bullied girl finding out she has telekinesis and deciding on a bit of payback. Her barking mad mother Margaret White a religious fanatic who has tried to force her madness on to her daughter.

The traumatizing shower scene with a high school full of misfits, bullies and the lead up to the prom. Poor Sue trying to do the right thing by getting her boyfriend Tommy to take Carrie to the prom. It starts well before the buckets of pig blood and then Carrie leaves a trail of destruction through the town of Chamberlain as well as a high body count!

I remember the movies final scene which was a brilliant ending. One of the few books where a few changes have worked for the scary better.

King is at his best here. The book is a window into the future of his genius at holding your attention with the horror and supernatural.
