Jan 28: I should probably hold off on rating until I'm done reading, but I like Garth Nix so much that I feel safe marking it five stars already. (And guilty that I've ignored the book this long. OI!)
One interesting thing I've noted already is that in this world, the angelic power structure is inverted. In tradition, seraphim are the most powerful (see: every version of Metatron ever) and angels are the weakest. But in...I already forget the name of the surrounding world (if it has been named), the ninth choir is completely missing and it's the eighth (archangels) that are the ones in charge.
Here's hoping it's another fantastic Nix Novel!

Feb 4: Wow, what a fantastic letdown. A great deal of build-up for an incredibly simple ending that finished in less than five minutes. I never thought I'd say a Garth Nix was a waste of paper (my middle and last names are Old Kingdom characters, for the sake of the Charter!); but then I never thought I'd walk out of a Star Wars movie, either, and I DNFed Rogue One. So it can happen.
Speaking of the OK books, maybe I ought to reread them. Bet they'd cheer me up!
