Anna Karenina

I listened to this on audiobook and found it to be interesting at first but then so, so very dull.
Tolstoy drudged on and on about random topics throughout the book (farming being a big one) which don’t do anything to develop characters or to advance the plot.
It is almost as if you’re reading each character’s unfiltered stream of consciousness rather than the curated, relevant thoughts typically seen in fiction writing.
In all, this 30 hour audio book & 800 page novel could have been whittled down to 1/4 of its size and been twice as compelling.
