The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium #1)

Here we have all the ingredients for a good crime novel, they just never really come together in a satisfying manner. The main characters are potentially interesting but they don't really get that much interesting stuff to do. The plot is also very awkwardly structured and moves extremely slowly, with the author's "tell don't show" writing style not helping things that much either.
Another problem is that the title character, Liz Salander, is one of those sidekicks who are way cooler than the actual protagonist Mikael Blomkvist who basically comes across as Tintin if he grew up to be a womanizing alcoholic. I wished the story actually focused on her instead the entire way through.
Have any of you ever seen the South Korean vigilante movie "Lady Vengeance"? It's basically everything I had hoped that "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" would be like, and much better.
