This felt like a mashup of Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier & The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid, minus the romance. So it’s kinda shocking I didn’t enjoy it more given how much I love both of those books?
There was just something that didn’t feel super engaging about the mystery here. I wanted to like it much more than I did. This book has been on my TBR now for years and I’ve always assumed I’d love it, so a bit disappointing to say the least!
