Karin Slaughter does a great job catching up readers on her series. You can pick up any book in the series and it can easily stand alone. That can be a drawback for someone like me who is reading the whole series in a matter of a few months. It turns into a story that is much longer than necessary. As a result, I felt it was a good 200 pages before the story really took off.
This is the 3rd in this series and I was glad to see Sara from the Grant County Series playing a role here. It was a genius idea to merge the 2 together. Not sure if that was always her master plan, but it's brilliant. It was nice to catch up on the goings on with Sara.
I am enjoying the working relationship develop between Faith and Will, I am hoping future books dig deeper into the personal relationships. That's one of the benefits of a series, a set of really developed characters, but so far this series has left me wanting more in that regard.
The series of victims were so unlikeable I found myself not caring about them. I am hoping for book 4 to be better.
