really liked it

** spoiler alert ** I am somehow confused about this book. At first, it seemed like an easy pleasant read about two young people who just can’t live without each other: they make up, then they break up and then it starts all over again. Then, while reading the second half of the book, I started to get this heavy feeling in my chest when the author started to explore in more depth the violence that surrounded Marriane at home all her life and how it made her become the person she is. Always feeling tainted, with the desire to submit to someone in both sex and everyday life. This made me think back to the title of the book and contemplate what does it really mean to be a “normal person�? Do we ever fully fit in the society that we are living? And then, The open ending just left me heart broken. I hate open endings. How Connel’s move to New York would change him and his relationships with Marianne? Would they drift apart or will they find a way to go back to each other as whatever happens in their lives, they are the only two people who fully fit in with each other? I really wish the ending was not that abrupt ...
