The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires

This book was on my to-read list since early 2020 and I've finally started and finished it (in 3 days). I have to say I'm bummed and angry at the author for how he handled the PoC characters in his writing. It felt super problematic to introduce black women, families, and neighborhoods as dangerous, trashy, and only purpose to further the narrative for the white housewives who took all the credit. Also, the men in the novel are disgusting and the housewives just allow them to behave that way, and while the author makes some sort of commentary on it, it still doesn't feel right.... Other than those issues, it would have been a decent book but it's hard to get past those aspects for me, and I don't plan on reading another book by this author again.
