This is nearly a coffee table sized book, but what makes this book stand out is the pictures (both of the imperial times and modern). Most books focus only on text, but the pictures the author has included brings the text to life. This is not an exhaustive biography, but they are quoted, rather it is a sort of 'eagle eyed view' of the reign and death of Nicholas and Alexandra. This is a great first read if you've never read any biography of them.
